Moderation: Why do we edit or remove posts?
July 23, 2008
My name is Erica (EBs123) and I am a moderator for GirlsAskGuys. We have received questions regarding our moderation tactics so I will do my best to answer those questions here.
The moderation team’s number one goal is to maintain a caring community where visitors and members alike can get the answers and advice they seek. Offensive content is not welcome on our site because it does not contribute to the quality content it takes to create a caring community. Sexually explicit details are not allowed for two reasons: (1) we welcome members ages 16 + and (2) to put it simply; we are an “R” rated, not “X” rated, site.
As a moderator, I have a pretty good feel for which questions get a bunch of answers and which only get one or two. Questions that have a well written title and are easy to understand always attract more answers. So I’ll also edit content for clarity to help members get more views and responses.
So, as I moderate, I look for content clarity, offensive content and extreme or unnecessary details on sexual topics. I will remove posts if they are offensive, include sexually explicit details or contain so many grammatical errors that it’s hard to understand. I will correct some spelling or grammar mistakes to make it easier to read but if there are too many, I have to remove the entry.
We strive to offer a friendly community for everyone to come to for support, advice, and help on just about any subject. I love seeing people help each other out! It’s a positive atmosphere that anyone can come to for a place to vent, ask embarrassing questions (you can ask anonymously), share experiences and offer insight. In order to keep the positive atmosphere alive, sometimes we do have to edit or remove posts.
GirlsAskGuys is growing rapidly and exciting improvements are constantly being made. To keep up with this growth we may make mistakes from time to time. Please contact us and let us know if you think a post is removed but shouldn’t have been or if you have any other feedback you’d like to share.
This is your community and my job is to help keep it fun, friendly and informative so you’ll continue to enjoy being here!

I’d just like to say you have a good site and I’d like to compliment sassysenorita who spent a lot of time advising me…and it all rang true. Simple honesty is a rare quanlity these days and she definitely has that.
